Welcome to the University Counseling Center Group Treatment Program at Colorado State University! A variety of groups for students is offered and group is often the treatment of choice for many issues. Group is a unique opportunity to experience a type of treatment that cannot be found in many mental health settings. We offer 3 different group treatment formats:

  1. Interpersonal Process Groups are for those who will benefit from sharing experiences, giving and receiving support/feedback, and experimenting with new interpersonal behaviors in a safe environment.
  2. Theme Groups are for those who share common experiences with others, which may enhance a group's cohesion and effectiveness.
  3. Psychoeducational Groups are for those who want the opportunity to be educated, to increase knowledge of resources, and to build coping skills in certain areas of their lives.

Those interested in group treatment will meet with a staff counselor to assess the match between individual needs and available groups. Occasionally last minute scheduling changes occur in times and leaders. No set limit exists on the number of group sessions in which a person may participate. Groups are free of charge and are confidential.
